Minister of Information Shadreck Namalomba has called on community and regional broadcasters in the Central Region to align their programming and strategic plans with the Malawi 2063 development agenda.

He emphasized the need for media houses to play a proactive role in finding sustainable solutions to the challenges facing their communities.

The minister made the remarks in Mponela during a media engagement organized by the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology in collaboration with the Malawi Communications Regulatory Authority (MACRA).

Namalomba urged broadcasters to support government efforts in exposing the misappropriation of public funds and to produce stories that highlight positive developments within their communities.

To help address mobility challenges, the minister donated eight motorcycles to community radio stations in the Central Region.

Mphatso Phiri Malawi Communications Regulatory Authority said the authority is aware of the challenges community and regional broadcasters are facing and soon these challenges will be addressed.

Johns Banda,Kasungu Community Radio, Station Manager expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Information for the donation, noting that the motorcycle will enhance their ability to report from remote and hard to reach areas.
