NACRO BRINGS HOPE TO 20,000 HOUSEHOLD IN MCHINJI DISTRICT.

More than 20,000 households set to benefit from health, water sanitation, and education infrastructure which is being implemented by New Apostolic Church Relief Organization (NACRO) in the area of Traditional Authority M’duwa.

In response to previous pressing needs, currently the New Apostolic Church Relief Organization (NACRO) has provided a Solar piped water to 24 village, constructed modern pit latrines in 10 primary schools and under five clinics.

New Apostolic Church Relief Organization (NACRO) since 2018 is implementing a water sanitation and health project in Mchinji, solving challenges of poor child health, overcrowded classrooms and inadequate access to clean water.

Speaking on Wednesday at Mkwathama Village during an official launch of NACRO project New Apostolic Church District Apostle Kububa Soko, says the organization is committed to transform the welfare of people in the area.

Kububa said many villagers are facing numerous barriers to access quality education and healthcare services and villagers at Mkwanthama and surrounding villages are now currently enjoying the fruits of the project by drinking safe water.

The construction of Mkwanthama under-five clinic, two classroom school block at Mkandamsana will start soon and all these construction works are estimated to cost 350 Million Kwacha.

“NACRO being a faith based charity organization has been implementing number of projects here in Malawi, Zambia and Zimbabwe, our team came here and found that people are facing challenges in accessing clean water, healthcare services and education.

Responding to the needs of this community we sourced a financial support from our friends in Canada to support us to construct health and education infrastructure in the area of traditional authority M’duwa”, he said.

NACRO’S Board Chairperson Agrippa Phiri said all these projects aligns with Malawi National Health Strategic Plan 2023-2030 and 2020-2030 National Education Sector Investment Plan as it will address challenges in child health, basic education and sanitation.

He said the project has so far reached out to 13,000 households and by the end of all interventions more than 20,000 people will benefit.

Samson Hudson Kapanga Senior Group Villagehedman Mkwanthama, Senior Chief M’duwa representative said project has changed their lives and Mkwanthama is becoming a model village.

Alinafe Timosi said women walked long distances to fetch water from unsafe sources and the initiatives will help in reducing cases of waterborne diseases as well as  children will no longer travel long distance receiving medical care.
